Damien Ravnich (drums) and Bertrand Wolff (laptop, synthetizer) have met while performing an 11-minutes show on November 11, 2011. Postcoitum was born from the collaboration of these two musicians, who work on forceful instrumental compositions calling upon a sharp narrative sense. They have constructed a sonorous universe comprising electronic, industrial and rock inspirations.
After Animal Triste and Himera (LP), both produced by the artists' label Daath, the duo releases Learning to be me, an album not only constructed on the musical and poetic impact of transhumanism, but also on sci-fi inspirations within pop-culture. The 14 tracks navigate between syncopated compositions and electronic experimentations, in which drums and machines accompany each other until a near fusion.
In their live set, Postcoitum are in pursuit of this symbiosis between instrumental and electronic gestures. They use sensors placed on the drums and connnected to MIDI sounds. The two musicians modulate in live numbers of LED panels placed around them and a light installation by the artist Guillaume Stagnaro.
The live set is proposed in a quadraphony diffusion (part of the sound system is autonomous), in multiple configurations both on stage and in orchestra pit.
